Chiropractic is the fastest growing health care profession in the world. Our chiropractors specialize in locating and what is known as Vertebral Subluxation. A Vertebral Subluxation is a misalignment of one or more of the 24 movable bones of the spine or pelvis. These misalignments are commonly caused by stresses and impacts to the body from poor posture, poor sleeping habits, slips and falls, accidents, sports impacts, strenuous exercise, work injuries, childhood falls, and even the birth process. Subluxations cause stress to the spinal cord and the delicate spinal nerves which exit the spine between the spinal bones. This causes irritation to the nerves and interferes with their ability to function properly. This nerve interference causes the body to lose its ability to function optimally and poor health eventually results. Though serious even in their early stages, subluxations are often not painful.
It may be obvious that you need to see a Chiropractor if you are experiencing neck pain, back pain, hip pain, headaches, numbness or curvature of the spine. However, many people don’t realize that chiropractic care has an excellent record of success helping many health conditions. Maintaining a healthy and well-aligned spine is extremely important and is the most often overlooked key to staying healthy.
The Gonstead Method is considered a “gold standard” for chiropractic techniques because of its record of safety and effectiveness in correcting spinal misalignments.
The Gonstead system gives rise to a specific, definite approach to every segment of the spinal column. The detailed analysis includes instrumentation, digital palpation, visualization and x-ray.
Our doctors will ask the appropriate questions specific to your condition. We will gather all the necessary information of not only your present complaints but also past health issues, accidents, surgeries, medications, dietary lifestyle and your previous treatment for the condition. We may then perform other exams if necessary, including taking your vitals and performing orthopedic exams.
This is a process in which each spinal joint is palpated (touched by the doctor's fingers) for tenderness, tight muscles and edema (swelling) which are present with a subluxation.
This portion of the exam involves the doctor palpating each segment and through either active or passive participation on the patient's part, the spinal vertebrae are put through all three axes (directions) of normal motion to determine if there is a deficiency in any or all of the movements. If there is, the joint is “fixated”.
Visualization of motion and posture are ways to cross-reference all other findings.
