Activator
The Activator Method chiropractic technique is a type of manipulation treatment used to treat various types of back and neck pain. This treatment method uses the Activator adjusting instrument, which is an alternative to a traditional manual adjustment such as the Diversified technique.
The Activator Method technique uses a spring-loaded, hand-held mechanical instrument called the Activator adjusting instrument. This instrument allows us to provide a quick, low-force impulse at specific points. During a typical adjustment with the Activator instrument, we apply the device to the tissues at or near the affected joint. The patient remains still while initial pressure is followed by a quick thrust from the device, which feels much like having one's reflex tested by tapping the knee. The pressure of the thrust can be changed from as high as 60 pounds per square inch to just 2 pounds per square inch.
